Do you ever feel like fashion is moving just a little too fast? I do. All the time. Nothing is original anymore, things that are exclusive are never exclusive for very long. Fashion week will come, then very soon after blogs and online sources will post EVERYTHING about the shows. Within 6-8 weeks, chain store giants are selling near exact copies of the designer items before the designers even get a chance to get them into store.
Designers are slowly starting to have closed viewing shows - confiscating cameras, phones and computers before guests are even allowed to enter. I am all for accessibility to the masses, I love that we can buy high fashion items from online boutiques and chain stores and feel like we are part of the fashion pack but I feel like it's a runaway train at the moment. I feel like soon the fashion world won't be able to keep up with the speed of things. Fashion magazines can't even keep up with the accessibility and speed that online sources have these days. Will they one day be phased out completely? Will fashion magazines be a thing of the past?
Should all designers have closed shows? The fashion world will always revolve around fashion week, but this way us masses will have to wait a little longer for fashions to hit chain stores. We will still see all the fashionistas going to the shows on blogs. We will all still stare in awe at models leaving the shows. We will still see designers giving the sneak peeks of their collections and pieces that they want to give etc. But the train will slow down to a more comfortable pace that we can keep up with, jump on and enjoy the ride. At the moment it feels like we are all running for the train that we keep on missing because it doesn't slow down enough at the platform to let us on.
X x.
